This 1800 calorie diabetic menu is important part of 1800 calorie diabetic diet. In the menu most foods are low glycemic index or GI foods which help keep blood glucose at normal level, and foods that nourish Yin.

Let's see why we prepared these food in the menu.

Breakfast:

Oat Bran and Milk, Hard-boiled Egg and Cucumber, pear and tofu are all low GI foods. In which pear is a good fruit for diabetics. Cucumber help clear away heat in the lung and the stomach.

The sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is low GI food if it's boiled or steamed. But when baked, it's GI will arise. Sweet potato also help relieve constipation which many diabetics often suffer from.

Lunch:

Broccoli has GI as low as 10. Eggplant and spinach are both constipation-relief vegetables. Both eggplant and spinach help remove fat. Corn on the cob is low GI food after boiled. Job's Tears is one of pearled barley whose GI is only 22.

Dinner:

Wheat tortilla has low GI which is only 30. Abalone soup help nourish Yin as most diabetics are Yin-deficiency. Pumpkin can be served as dessert after steamed and cooled. Some experts said it help reduce blood sugar while others say no such function. However, it's not a dangerous food for diabetics.

Drinks:

Luo Han Guo and Job's Tears Soup are very good drinks for diabetics. They also improve symptoms if you have lung problems such as cough, bronchitis.
